This Southeast Asian Country Just Approved a Five-Year Digital Nomad Visa

Thailand is already one of the most visited countries in the world with more than 12 million people visiting the capital Bangkok alone in 2023. 

It’s no secret why so many people from around the world travel here every year: the food is incredible, exploring within the country is very affordable and Thailand has some of the most flexible visa requirements in the region – including their 60-day work visa. But in a rather surprising move, the Thai government just increased the length of the work visa targeted at digital nomads from two months to five years.

The new visa, which went into effect at the beginning of June, limits each stay to 180 days, but allows you to return to Thailand shortly thereafter for another stay of the same length, which can be repeated for up to five years. We’re not saying this is the time to find a more remote-friendly job, uproot your whole life and move to Thailand for five years (we’d never be so reckless). But if you do, we hear Chiang Mai and Koh Lanta are both just terrific.
