Literary retreats are trending.

Blending books, relaxation and wellness, these travel experiences are designed for self-care and Main Character moments.

According to Pinterest’s 2025 Summer Trend Report, searches for “book club retreat ideas” are up 265%. Travelers are ditching the basic tropical vacay for something way more novel. Dreamy group vacations for bibliophiles, like Apple Vacation’s "Pages in Paradise" and Ladies Who Lit, take readers around the world to lounge, journal and crank through their TBR piles.

Resorts are getting in on the trend, too. Hotels are greeting guests with bookish welcome gifts, like a tote and a Moleskin, and curated reads to keep them company during their stay. Other resorts are leaning into the literary full-send. Think: expansive, curated libraries free to guests, whole floors named after authors and genre-specific rooms.

Whether you’re out to finally write your bestseller or just need an uninterrupted weekend to devour spicy romance novels, these retreats prove that self-care isn’t always about green juice and silent meditation.

Sometimes, it’s about grabbing your favorite paperback, booking the flight and living your best plotline.

Lindeth Howe Hotel, Bowness, England

For an idyllic retreat across the pond, the Lindeth Howe Hotel just launched a Readers’ Retreat that’s straight out of a storybook — perfect since it’s Beatrix Potter’s (who wrote The Tale of Peter Rabbit) former home. Set in England’s famous Lake District, you’ll score cozy reading spots, sip tea, tour the country houses of beloved British authors and connect with nature. Between the lakeside views and the vintage English charm, you might just forget to check your phone (which, honestly, is the whole point).

Library Hotel, New York, NY

This book lover’s paradise lets you take home a library of your own with its “Book by the Foot” experience. For an additional price, the hotel’s librarian will drop off a stack of hand-picked books to your room before your arrival. Each floor of the hotel is themed by the Dewey Decimal System, complete with dreamy reading nooks and skyline views that make it impossible to leave. Warning: you’ll need extra luggage for all your new reads.
